Cutora – Privacy policy

Cutora is a video editor for your phone. Your videos, photos and recordings stay on your phone: the app has no account, no analytics and no server of its own. This policy explains which data still leaves your phone and what your rights are.

Who is responsible

Your videos, photos and recordings

You choose which videos and photos the app may open, and which music files. Editing, effects, captions and the export all run on your phone. The app keeps your projects in its own storage on your phone and saves finished videos to your gallery. We never receive any of it.

Projects are deleted when you delete them in the app or uninstall it. Finished videos stay in your gallery until you delete them there.

Microphone

The app uses the microphone only while you record a voice-over, and only after you have allowed it. The recording is saved in your project on your phone.

Auto captions

Speech recognition for captions runs entirely on your phone; no sound leaves it. The first time you create captions, the app downloads the speech model once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co; Hugging Face, Inc., USA). As with any download, your IP address and technical details of the request (such as the time) reach that server, which uses them to deliver the file. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – our legitimate interest in providing the feature you started.

Ads

Cutora is free and financed by ads from Google AdMob, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: Google LLC, USA). The app shows an ad while a video exports and a full-screen ad when it is done.

In the first 7 days after you open the app for the first time, it shows no ads and does not start Google's ad software at all.

To show ads, Google's software in the app processes your device's advertising ID, your IP address, information about your device and the app (such as model, operating system, language and app version) and how you interact with ads (for example views and taps). Google uses this to deliver and measure ads, to limit how often you see the same ad and to prevent fraud and abuse.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app first asks for your consent with Google's form. Personalised ads are shown only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Without it, Google shows non-personalised ads, for which data is still processed for the purposes above (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – our legitimate interest in offering the app free of charge). You can change your choice at any time in the app under Settings › Ad privacy options.

On iPhone and iPad, the app uses the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow it when iOS asks; you can change this at any time in the iOS Settings under Privacy & Security › Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the system settings (for example Privacy › Ads).

Google may process data in the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. More in Google's privacy policy, https://policies.google.com/privacy, and in how Google uses data from apps that use its services, https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Data kept on your phone

The app keeps your settings (appearance, language, export settings) and the day you first opened it, from which the ad-free days count, on your phone. They are not sent anywhere and are deleted when you uninstall the app.

Sharing

When you share a video, your phone's share menu passes it to the app or service you choose; their privacy policy applies there.

Contact by e-mail

If you write to us, we use your e-mail address and your message only to answer you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and delete them once the matter is settled, unless the law requires us to keep them.

Children

Cutora is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process their data.

Your rights

You have the right to know which data we process about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to receive it in a portable format (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can withdraw a consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)) – for ads in the app under Settings › Ad privacy options. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example in the country where you live (Art. 77).

We do not store any data about you ourselves, apart from e-mails you send us. Google can answer questions about the ad data best, but write to us and we will help. E-mail: sami.dev.studioo@gmail.com

Changes

We update this policy when the app or the law changes; the current version is always at this address.
